I won't deny, this is not going to be our overall decision, it will just help us decide what the majority would prefer.

Please, do not be nostalgic, or choose just because of your favourite race. Think of Paladin/Shamans, when will they be useful/not useful? For how long? Will their buffs improve the raid, or your performance? Consider the 16 debuff limit also.

We want a general idea, but we also want you to think this over for a while. It's a big decision that will effect the fundamentals of our raids.

If I sense cheating with the polling (including alt accounts, remember I see your IP's) I will make a decision myself.

i was going to vote ally for the nostalgia, but i felt that the shammie buffs would be better for more dps, yet the pallys do have threat reduction (30% i think) witch would allow dps to deal more dmg b4 having to slow down to prevent pulling. There is a lot of math you could do and i would think that it would come out even so i think its really just up to play stile and personal preference. also if were ally ill be an engineer (gnome rogue) but if were horde ill prolly go leather worker (undead rogue)

Me and Orby were talking about this, we feel Shamans are less beneficial until around AQ40 (Visc) because of Might buff etc. It's a hard decision, but it looks to me at the moment like Alliance pays off more for longer periods of time, also considering racials. (gnome, intelligence, human, spirit) and profession racials as you've stated: engineering.

Our consensus was that alliance would likely serve us better before we're already established. The only real significant advantage shamans bring is windfury, which would promote a very melee-heavy raid composition. Paladins bring kings, which is absolutely huge, along with salvation. Furthermore, blessings' totem-equivalents are raid wide and more sustainable.

We'll take a hit in aq40, where poison cleansing is simply a wet dream, but by then we'll hopefully be dominant enough to overcome the disadvantage.

How about the ratios(Horde/Alliance)? Seems, judging by the forums, a lot of guilds are going for Alliance, obviously this do not count for the great masses.
The reasons are very valid, and I do not wish to complain, I will absolutely love to saddle my golden warhorse.

As I wasn't a member of the original q-gaming, only the "copy", I have a general few questions.

How were the ratios back then?
How were the Battleground queues?
What are your predictions for the future regarding these questions?

Infact, more guilds are going Horde. Reborn at least, who will be our competition if any.

Most people are playing Horde by my knowledge, out of nostalgia and the fact they "look cooler"

The ratio's back then didn't matter, as it was cross faction.
BG queues were very horde heavy, Alliance only won if premade or if the best pvpers on alliance were playing. It was quite balanced, but usually in favour of horde.

I think we do have to take this into consideration. Our choice here defines whether or not we help keep the server balanced.

Guild Release of Q Gaming Launch Day Empty Re: Guild Release of Q Gaming Launch Day

Post  Sindrac Fri Apr 13, 2012 9:18 pm

My personal opinion is that one should choose a faction on the basis of more than the statistical advantages; making people play a faction that they do not desire to play is on its own a problem that may affect the guild negatively in the future. I agree that the buffs offered by alliance are significantly superior, but I would further like to argue that the quality of the players of this guild, especially with respect to the players of other guilds, is going to be on such a level that the perks offered by our faction of choice is not going to be that which establishes our superiority.

Looking at the votes laid down this far, it seems relatively clear that more people desire to play horde. These statistics, combined with the apparent lack of faction-perks, does in my view constitute the obvious choice for any confident and capable guild.

By the way, if my vote carries an IP that is identical to some other such IP, that is because I voted from the same hotel-room as my brother.

You're right Sindrac, entirely right, we won't choose on the basis of Alliance holding more perks, because as you say the players in our roster will be what carry us to the number one spot. Faction is not a massive advantage, but what I am more worried about is balance.

If we also go Horde, Reborn (it seems our main competition perhaps) are also going to be playing alongside us. This creates a massive overturn of players who will roll horde at the shot to get in the top progressed guilds. I think our choice is imperative to maintaining server balance, which ultimately even affects PvP progression.

I think I will ask Santa to start a Poll questioning which faction people will roll, we should really take that into consideration.

I'd like to say that I did place my vote as Horde, but it does not matter a great deal to me.

Sindrac wrote:... making people play a faction that they do not desire to play is on its own a problem that may affect the guild negatively in the future.

Then again, all of us who has signed up for this so far, did so without the faction being a factor. I believe most will be fine with whatever choice is the more beneficial one.

If this happens, then you'll have maybe 2 or 3 dominating guilds on horde and a ton of feeder guilds, people will constantly interchange between guilds and it could just become a mess, even though I voted horde, I'm leaning to alliance now to maintain balance plus the pvp rivalry is always fun.

Not only this, but noone will play Alliance. It totally kills PvP Progression.

There will be a few powerhouse guilds and no competition on Alliance.

You can cancel your votes btw people.

Guild Release of Q Gaming Launch Day Empty Re: Guild Release of Q Gaming Launch Day

The 'competition', if one goes by recent activity on the guild recruitment forums, seems to consist out of Serenity, Drama and Reborn. Judging by the amount of votes in their thread, Serenity will be going Alliance; Drama appears to have done so already. Therefore, if Reborn plays Horde, the preliminary server-balance is 2 Alliance guilds versus 1 Horde guild. With us as Alliance, that would be 3 Alliance guilds versus Reborn.

Considering the fact that we want to achieve balance, one should further consider the effects that our presence may have on the seemingly more numerous Alliance guilds; will they crumble because their better members might ultimately want to join up with us instead? It is true that the Horde will be an oligarchy if we choose to play there, but I fear that we might completely shut down any kind of opportunity for new guilds to establish themselves on the server if we were to play Alliance and Reborn Horde. Conversely, if we were to compete with Reborn and eventually decimate them in a similar fashion, such a consequence would be preferable to having us systematically kill off weaker guilds; we ought to pose a problem to the strong rather than the weak.

My point is therefore that we should play Horde so as to provide the rest of the community with a faction that is going to be 'up for grabs' for new guilds looking for a fresh start. I didn't mention these earlier because I was unsure of to what extent they were still alive, but the following guilds also appear to be rolling Alliance: Memoria, Inertia and Fierce. In contrast, the only other guild that seems to be planning on rolling Horde is a guild called Madhouse.

On a less objective note, I personally really dislike the amount of space and credit that we are subscribing to Reborn; should they really get to have an entire faction all to themselves? I don't recall them as being that great.

I am guessing that Serenity will be at least a month behind in progression as it will be a levelling guild that is based on 1x rates, for this reason I think it can be dismissed as any competition at all. As for Drama, I found out today that I may have underestimated them. I thought they would be a fairly casual raiding guild, but now I've spoken to some of their officers, I realise that they know what they're doing more than I've given them credit for.

Reborn won't be shit, not a scratch on us, I only say that because of the number of players that have jumped ship already since they found out we may be going Horde. So it seems Reborn has attracted the most attention, probably followed by us, then Drama. Most people will choose faction based on the guilds they expect to be the most successful, and at this moment I suspect most players will roll Horde anyway.

I don't want to cripple PvP progression, that's my main concern, to have a 1:3 ratio alliance:horde would be very dangerous.

However over the last few days, all points considered, I'm leaning back toward Horde..

I think that preemptive measures should be taken against this type of problem; some kind of function that enables efficient faction-switching ought to be developed and implemented for the sake of potential cases of emergency.

Guild Release of Q Gaming Launch Day Empty Re: Guild Release of Q Gaming Launch Day

Post  imbaandy Mon Apr 23, 2012 7:03 am

I've been reading this post now and havnt been able to give a proper answere so far.
What i can tell from my previous/past experience is that almost all random guys who joins the server selects the horde side.

As comes to myself i prefer to play horde. Because of their racials. And that is the main and only reason really.
Will of the forsaken outplays all other racials by far according to me. Along with cannabalize which r rly op in both lvling and during pvp.
And especially in 1.12.1 when u can get feared forever. atlaest it feels like it.

And about the PVE progress, when you are trying to compare the paladins toards the shamans. I'd say they are pretty equal. Totems keep the melee dps alive such as giving the healers/casters some xtra mp5. But i think the biggest difference comes to the fire ress / poison cleansing totems for fast prgoression in mc/aq etc.

As cowdays stated earlier i dont think any1 really care which side we are choosing. And i dont think that whatever side we choose to play will play any difference or affect our progression.
We should rely on eachother and in ourselves. In this guild, that we, as a unit will succeed whatever we choose to play.

Post  Bowner Tue Apr 24, 2012 10:07 am

For me choosing a faction has ALWAYS been based on the PvP aspect. My opinion on the minute differences in buffs between factions is just that, they're minute. If the players in this guild are anything like they were in the past servers then those differences shouldn't make a difference. Personally I'd prefer to be on the side with less players, I know we might get rolled by the other faction when we solo queue in battlegrounds but if we get a few good peeps on (which I assume will be very frequent) then we'll be able to catch them off guard and rock their world. Another factor is the queue time, if there are less people on whatever faction we choose, queues will be drastically shorter.

All in all I'll be rolling a hunter either way
